There will be a test on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 in class. This test will include material covered in class right until the beginning of the new unit (tangents and limits are excluded).
- Functions- Introduction
- Combining Functions
- Multiplication of Functions
- Polynomial Functions- Shapes and Properties
- The Factor Theorem
- The Remainder Theorem
- The Factor Property
- The Rational Root Theorem
- Synthetic Substitution
- Specialized Factoring Techniques
- Composition of Functions
This may appear to be a lot of material but much of it very interconnected and builds on knowledge you already have.
For practice, I suggest that you review the notes you have and the homework you have done. Please make sure to try the problems that you missed the first time around- just recognizing how it is done is not enough for a test.
Some novel problems you can try from Mathematical Modelling 4:
- pg. 60, #12, 13
- pg. 66, #30 (ones we didn’t do)
- pg. 69, #5, 6, 8
- pg. 72, #14
- pg. 76, #29
- pg. 80, #40 (review factoring)
- pg. 81, #49
